2006.10.12 9 days to go! How come our to do list is getting longer rather than shorter? Hopefully everyone's travel plans are in place; we're looking forward to seeing you next Saturday!
2006.09.11 Wow, in 5 weeks and 1 day we will be arriving in NY for the wedding. Things are feeling very under control after Kate's trip at the end of August, during which she picked the menu, got her hair and makeup done, fitted her dress, and tasted and ordered tons of yummy cakes from Billy's Bakery. Now we're just waiting for the RSVPs to come in before doing the most important thing -- ordering the liquor. We can't wait to see all of you in New York soon!
2006.08.12 We were finally able to reserve a block of rooms at the Beekman Tower Hotel [map] [review], the hotel where our bridal party and immediate family are staying. Studio suites (bedroom + kitchenette) will be $279 plus tax and one bedroom suites (1 bedroom, 1 living room w/ sleeper couch and kitchenette) will be $299 plus tax. To reserve a room, call the Beekman at 212-355-7300, and make sure to mention you're with the Bauer/Brase wedding.

Please join us at the Beekman Tower Hotel on Sunday, October 22nd, 2006 between 10am and 12pm for a New York style bagel brunch before you take off for the airport or a day of siteseeing.
About Us
Kate and Ry4an met through an online dating service in the fall of 2004. Their relationship grew over spring rolls from almost every Asian restaurant in the Twin Cities. In July of 2005 they decided that they wanted to be legally married and that Kate wanted a sparkly ring! On September 21st, that ring arrived via FedEx and Ry4an promptly proposed as Kate was packing her bag for school. They celebrated their engagement with a fantastic dinner and excitedly and quickly began planning their wedding for the fall of 2006.
Check out our engagement photos.
Kate Bauer
Kate is currently a doctoral student in epidemiology at the University of Minnesota. Her research interests include the influence of the community, family, and schools on adolescent nutrition and physical activity. Lately her free time is spent feeling guilty about not studying while cooking, knitting, playing with her kitten, and wedding planning.
Ry4an Brase
Ry4an is a software developer with
Onion Networks. He's been living
in Minneapolis since 1995, when he moved to attend the University of
Minnesota. He spends as much of his limited free time as possible
outside, but ends up spending a great deal of time on the computer just
the same. The four in his name isn't a typo, and no, there's no
good reason for it.
The Wedding Party
There are a lot of people helping celebrate the Bauer-Brase wedding. Here are a few details about the principals.
Elizabeth Bauer
Kate's younger sister Elizabeth just bought her first
house with her fiance, Jeff Brody. She works for Cigna doing something that
Kate doesn't understand and spends her evenings with doggy Cody Brody and
kitty Riley.
Liz Kane
Kate's best friend since nursery school currently lives in
San Fran and is close friends with Sponge Bob Square Pants. She enjoys yoga
and traveling but beware, don't ask to see her pictures from Finland.
Madeline Bauer
Madeline is not only Kate's cousin but also her birthday
twin, born exactly 18 years after Kate. She's a violin wiz and a shining
star of the 5th grade.
Justin Chapweske
Justin, his wife Natalie, and Ry4an have been friends since they met at the University of Minnesota in 1997. Justin and Ry4an have been coworkers off and on over the last eight years, and currently Justin is the CEO of Onion Networks, where Ry4an works. Justin and Natalie live in the twin cities with very busy lives and two cats.
Our Parents
None of this would be possible without the love and support of the parents. Thanks to them for their enthusiastic support of this event.
James and Jill Bauer
Jill and Jimmy Bauer live in Garden City, New York. Jill is a lawyer
specializing in family law and divorce mediation, while Jimmy is enjoying
gallivanting around the world during his retirement.
Dennis and Sandra Brase
Ry4an's parents, Denny and Sandy Brase (nee Beach), grew up in Minnesota and North Dakota, respectively. They met while living in Washington, DC. They married and moved to South Dakota, raised kids in Texas and Missouri, and now live in Atlanta. Denny works for Noritsu, and Sandy is a retired math teacher.
